Life changes, and sometimes the most loving choice is finding your dog a new home. There's no judgment here. If you're no longer able to care for your Shih Tzu or small breed dog, we're here to help make sure they land somewhere safe, loved, and ready for the next chapter.
Send us an email (astsbr@gmail.com) with a photo of them and tell us about your dog: age, health, personality, and what makes them special.
Our team reviews every request and will reach out to talk through next steps and whether we're able to take your dog in.
We'll get back to you to talk things through. We'll let you know whether we're able to take your dog in, and answer any questions.
We'll find a time that works to get your dog to our location. When you arrive, we'll go over an surrender form so we can learn about them.
They will get a vet check and lots of love. We screen all applicants to find a perfect match. You can rest knowing they're in good hands. 💜
What to have ready: any vet and vaccination records you have, your dog's current food, medications, and anything familiar that helps them feel at home, like a favorite toy or blanket.
Please reach us at astsbr@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We're a small, volunteer-based rescue, and our ability to take in dogs depends on space and resources at the time.
Please share everything you know about your dog, including any health or behavior concerns. It helps us keep them safe and find the right family.
Same-day intake may be possible depending on space. If your situation is urgent, please let us know in your email.
Most dogs stay with us at a residence in North Phoenix, which has been modified to give them a comfortable, cage-free environment. They live with us like they are our own dogs. Some, like seniors or dogs who need more one-on-one attention, may go to one of our trusted foster homes.
Your dog spends a short period in quarantine, then is slowly introduced to the pack, giving them time to decompress and settle in. They also get a full vet check and any care they need, like vaccinations, dental work, grooming, spay/neuter and more. We get to know their personality, then list them for adoption when they're ready.
Based on the information you share and what we learn about your dog while they're with us, we determine what kind of home would be best for them. We carefully review every application and only schedule meet-and-greets with approved, selected applicants. Every adopter signs a contract agreeing that if things don't work out, the dog comes back to us, and we stay listed as a backup contact on their microchip for life.
Please reach out and tell us about your dog, and let's talk through it together.
