Thank you for stopping to help. A lost dog is often someone's missing family member, and the first few hours matter most. Here's what to do to keep them safe and help get them back home. We are here to help if you need us!
If it's safe to approach, bring the dog somewhere secure and out of the heat. Offer water and shade right away.
Look for a collar, tags, a phone number. If there's no ID, any local vet office can scan for a microchip. We are also happy to scan them.
Post them on lost pet groups like Petco love and Pawboost, neighborhood apps, and social media. Check for lost dog posts that match, too.
Rather not do the owner search yourself? Email us (astsbr@gmail.com), and we're happy to take the dog in and handle the search for you.
If you can't find the owner or are unable to hold the dog, email us photos, where you found them, and anything you've noticed about them.
Please reach us at astsbr@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Please email us first. Our space is limited, and we'll need to talk with you before any dog comes in.
We focus on Shih Tzus and other small breed dogs. If the dog you found isn't a small breed, we're happy to help find other resources.
Let us know in your email. We'll do our best to help or connect you with someone who can.
If no owner is found, the dog joins our rescue. They'll get the vetting and care they need while we get to know them and what their needs are, then when they are ready, we'll find them a safe and loving forever home.
We'll reunite them. If needed, we'll also share helpful tips on things like microchips, ID tags, and keeping small dogs safe and cared for, so it doesn't happen again.
